Set deposits and payment schedules
Split a document total into clear installments and due dates.
Before you start
Decide the deposit and remaining installments before sharing the document.
Payment schedule controls, shown on a new estimate.
- Set the amount or percentage for each installment.
- Choose the payment term and due date.
- Schedule a Payment adds another installment. Check the total below.
Step by step
Open the payment section
In your estimate or invoice, find the Payments section and review the existing schedule.
Define the installments
Add or edit payment rows. Give each a clear label and use the available percentage or amount controls to divide the total.
Choose terms and dates
Set the payment term or due date for each installment. Use labels such as Deposit or Final payment to explain the intended milestone.
Check the total and preview
Verify the rows add up to the document total after all pricing edits. Preview the document to confirm the client can understand what is due and when.
What happens next
The schedule explains the payment milestones. Due dates help determine which unpaid amounts are overdue; adding a schedule does not charge the client automatically.
Good to know
Review the schedule again after changing scope, tax, or price. A due milestone is not proof that a payment has been received.
